Frequently Asked Questions
What databases does EvidenX search?
EvidenX searches PubMed, Crossref, and Europe PMC simultaneously. Results are automatically deduplicated — if the same article appears in multiple databases, you see it once with the best available metadata.
How does EvidenX find Open Access PDFs?
For each article, EvidenX checks 8 sources: PubMed Central (PMID-to-PMCID conversion), Unpaywall API, Europe PMC full-text URLs, publisher-specific patterns (20+ publishers mapped), Semantic Scholar, CORE repositories, CrossRef license data, and a backend resolver that scrapes landing pages for PDF meta tags. If a free legal version exists anywhere on the internet, EvidenX finds it and gives you a direct download link.
What are EMI, RSC, and PRF?
EMI (Evidence Maturity Index, 0-100) measures how established the evidence base is — based on synthesis presence, design quality, volume, and temporal breadth. RSC (Research Saturation Coefficient, 0-1.0) measures research coverage completeness. PRF (Pyramid Robustness Factor, 0-1.0) measures evidence pyramid structure. All formulas are documented with rationale on the Methodology page.
What is the Method Engine?
A 7-step wizard that helps plan systematic reviews, meta-analyses, and scoping reviews. It parses your research question, recommends a review type, loads the correct frameworks (PRISMA, ROB2, AGREE II, COSMIN, QUADAS-2), generates eligibility criteria, builds an extraction schema, and plans the synthesis approach.
Does EvidenX use AI?
EvidenX uses rule-based classification and keyword matching — not generative AI. All metrics are deterministic, reproducible, and auditable. The system never generates text, never hallucinates data, and never makes clinical recommendations. You can inspect every score's component breakdown and verify the methodology.
Is EvidenX free?
Yes. Search, study classification, evidence metrics, PICO builder, Method Engine, and Watchtower are all free. Paid plans ($10-$159) unlock export (CSV/PDF), batch PDF downloads, AI-assisted analysis, and protocol export. Start searching now.
What is the Lexicon API?
A Clinical Research Intelligence API that provides term expansion, trend detection, gap analysis, and emerging terminology discovery. It identifies scientific terms that MeSH hasn't indexed yet using Watchtower daily monitoring. Available for developers and enterprises. Learn more.
